ALASKA DESIGN FORUM LECTURE CALENDAR

2008-2009 Season Location and Time Information:
Anchorage lectures take place at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art @ 7pm, Fairbanks lectures take place at the Blue Loon @ 6pm, Juneau lectures take place at the Silverbow Bakery @ 6pm

Admission Costs:
General admission is $10, Alaska Design Forum & Museum Members - $7, and
Students - $5.

September 2008

  • FREEZE : September 6th, 2008, 7pm : A happening at the Anchorage Museum's atrium will explain:

    1. What the heck is FREEZE?

    2. The 2008-2009 line-up for the Alaska Design Forum's lecture series.

    Enjoy a cool ambiance, with food, libations, and live music by Sean Mormelo. Added to the cool ambiance, to thank donors and sponsors, the event will start with Mayor Mark Begich and Museum Director James Pepper Henry - and most importantly - you. Open to the public.     SITE/SIGHT Architecture Tour


    Join the International Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Alaska Design Forum as we tour three private residences. Architects for the projects will be on hand to offer insight into their design processes. Each of the featured projects is new construction, and either not yet owner occupied or very newly occupied.

    6:00 West High School – pick up map or join us on the bus. Meet on the west side of West High School – look for a yellow school bus.

    6:15 – 6:45 Westchester Lagoon: Residence designed by Workshop for Architecture & Design

    7:00 – 7:30 Gated Subdivision, Turnagain: Residence designed by Dave Cole, Buck Walsky and Tam Bean.

    8:00 – 8:30 Upper Hillside: Residence designed by Black + White Studio Architects.

    9:00 Return to West High School

    Food, wine, transportation provided. $30/pp.
